WLKY in Louisville, KY is proudly reporting that the largest White Castle restaurant in the United States has opened right downtown.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- It was a landmark day for the city of Louisville, Ky., as the White Castle fast-food chain opened its largest store in the nation there on Friday. An older White Castle in the city was closed while the company built the new and improved version, local station WLKY reported.The new building is 20 percent larger than the one it replaced. While it's not a true castle, the building is 38-by-81 square feet and capable of seating 78 people. “We are declaring today 'White Castle Grand Opening Day,' and calling out all our citizens to realize it's special right here in Louisville, Kentucky,” Mayor Jerry Abramson said.

I know you thought that was more excitement than you could take in a year, but there is in fact more:

“I think it's very nice,” said customer Walter Shobe. “I've been coming here about seven years now every morning.” White Castle executives said they expect things in Louisville to keep getting better. “I'm making a prediction, and really sticking my foot out here, but this will be the busiest White Castle in the whole entire United States,” said Eddie Smith, regional director of operations. Smith said combined, all the White Castles in Louisville serve nearly 170,000 people a week. He said with this new location, they are more prepared than ever to serve customers during the Kentucky Derby and Louisville’s other signature events.

Walter Shobe's been coming to White Castle for breakfast every day for seven years. I haven't been this excited about something since my grandmother dropped me off at Spencer's Gifts when I was 11 so I could look at fundies. Too bad Louisville is so far away. Maybe I'll just have to move to Kentucky. I guess there's always chicks like these that live there. But they probably live in Lexington.
